The Lady

9pm, ITV1

In what is either terrible or terrific timing, Natalie Dormer plays Sarah Ferguson with aplomb in this drama about yet another scandal close to the duchess. It is based on her former dresser, Jane Andrews (excellent rising star Mia McKenna-Bruce), who was convicted for murdering her boyfriend. The four-parter starts with working-class Jane trying to fit in with this new royal world, while managing her worsening mental health. Hollie Richardson

Winter Olympics 2026: Closing Ceremony

7pm, BBC Two

That brightened up winter a bit, didn’t it? From a biathlete’s confession of infidelity to Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson’s giddy highland fling on the ice, the Winter Olympics has been thrilling. The closing ceremony at the Verona Arena is set to be a fitting extravaganza, handing the 2030 baton to the French Alps. HR

Lord of the Flies

9pm, BBC One

Saintly Simon confides in Ralph and is beset by hallucinations, as Jack’s rival faction (“I’m bored of worrying about being cruel … it’s time to get whacks in”) succumb to murderous groupthink, in the penultimate episode. A storm is coming, and someone is about to be martyred. Kill the beast. Cut his throat. Spill his blood … Ali Catterall

Secret Genius

9pm, Channel 4

Alan Carr and Susie Dent oversee proceedings as 12 brainboxes are whittled down to the final four. First there’s a complex mathematical maze, then a mind-bending memory game based on the periodic table. Ambulance technician Ollie could remember every number plate on her estate as a child so this, surely, should be a doddle? Ellen E Jones

For those in need of an education after watching Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague – his new film about the making of Breathless (AKA A Bout de Souffle) – here’s Jean-Luc Godard’s 1960 classic to help you out. It encapsulates the rule-breaking, improvisational spirit of the French New Wave – all jump-cuts, handheld camerawork and blithe indifference to typical plotlines – as Jean-Paul Belmondo’s impulsive, on-the-run criminal Michel woos Jean Seberg’s American student Patricia in a vividly depicted Paris.
